Managing Depression When Family Pressure Feels Overwhelming

Answered 3 October 2026 at 9:50 am PKT

If you feel your depression is getting worse because of constant pressure at home, you are not alone. This page offers practical, culturally aware ways to cope with stress and find relief within the Pakistani family context.

I feel stressed and my depression is getting worse every day. The pressure from home is making it harder to cope.

Aap are in a very tough spot, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Depression can make everything feel heavier, especially when there’s pressure from home. Let’s think about how to make this a little lighter.

Talk to someone you trust

If aap can, share what aap are going through with a family member or friend. They might not understand everything, but even a little support can help. If aap are worried about how they’ll react, think of someone who’s been kind to aap before.

Small steps for aap

  • Rest when aap can. Even a short break can help.
  • Try to eat something, even if aap don’t feel hungry.
  • If aap can, go for a short walk outside. Fresh air can help a little.

Think about what aap need

If the pressure at home is too much, aap might need to set some boundaries. It’s okay to say, “I need some time to myself right now.” If aap feel like aap can’t do that yet, think about what small thing aap can do for aapself today.

Aap are not alone in this. Zara is here to talk whenever aap need.
