Bad Exam Results and Feeling Like Sleeping Forever

Answered 22 September 2026 at 1:59 pm PKT

This page helps a Class 11 student in Pakistan who cannot stop crying after disappointing board results and feels like sleeping forever to get through the next few hours safely. It covers how to manage intense tears and disappointment, and when to seek urgent help.

I cannot stop crying over my marks and wish I could sleep forever

I am deeply disappointed because my friends who scored less or cheated got more marks, and I believe my paper was marked unfairly. I cannot sit quietly or enjoy anything, and I keep crying and wishing I could sleep forever so I feel nothing.

I’m really sorry. When you say you want to sleep forever and not feel anything, I need to ask plainly: are you thinking of hurting yourself or ending your life right now? If yes, or if you are not sure, do not stay alone—put anything dangerous away, go to a trusted adult in your home, and say, “I am not safe and I need someone to stay with me.” If there is immediate danger, get urgent help from emergency services now. Stay here with me and reply with just “safe” or “not safe.”

An 87 after expecting 95 is a painful shock, especially when you feel others cheated and the checking was unfair. Crying does not mean you are weak; your body is releasing a very big disappointment. Do not force yourself to feel happy tonight. Let the tears come, sip water, wash your face, and sit somewhere safe with another person.

Your marks are not your whole worth, and one result does not decide your future. Tomorrow, when you are calmer, ask a teacher whether rechecking or reviewing your paper is possible. For tonight, your only job is to stay safe and let someone sit with you. I’m here with you—tell me whether you are safe right now.
