Answered 18 October 2026 at 4:41 pm PKT

Are you a student feeling weighed down by family pressure and constant fights at home? This page offers practical steps to break the cycle of depression, rebuild your confidence, and get back to studying.

How do I break out of this cycle of depression when I’m a student drowning under family pressure and constant fights at home, and I’ve lost all my confidence and can’t even study anymore?

Aap are in a very hard place, and it is genuinely hard to find a way out. The first thing to do is to tell someone you trust - a teacher, a relative, or a friend - that you are struggling. You do not have to explain everything, but they may be able to help you find a way to ease the pressure at home or at school. If you cannot tell someone you know, you can talk to a counselor at your school or university. They are there to help, and they will not judge you.

Find a way to ease the pressure

  • Try to talk to your family about how you are feeling. They may not understand how much pressure you are under, and they may be able to help if they know.
  • If your family is not supportive, try to find other people who can be. This could be friends, teachers, or a counselor.
  • Try to set realistic goals for yourself. You do not have to be perfect, and you do not have to do everything at once. Break your tasks down into smaller, manageable steps.
  • Try to prioritize your tasks. Focus on the most important things first, and let go of the things that are not as important.

Take care of yourself

  • Make sure you are getting enough sleep. Sleep is important for your physical and mental health.
  • Eat a healthy diet. Eating well can help you feel better both physically and mentally.
  • Exercise regularly. Exercise can help reduce stress and improve your mood.
  • Take time for yourself. Do things that you enjoy, even if it is just for a few minutes each day.

Get help if you need it

If you are feeling overwhelmed, it is important to get help. You can talk to a counselor or a therapist, or you can call a helpline. There are people who care about you and want to help you.
