How to Stop Letting a Man Manipulate You in Pakistan

Answered 1 October 2026 at 5:42 am PKT

Recognizing manipulation in a relationship is the first step to breaking free. Here’s how to protect your heart and move forward with confidence.

I know I should stay away from him because the cons list is unbeatable, but he always finds a way to get to my soft side. How do I stop letting him manipulate me and finally get over this for good?

It makes complete sense that you are stuck — knowing someone is wrong for you and still wanting them is one of the hardest places to be. Your soft side is not a weakness; it is what makes you kind, and he is using that against you. That is manipulation, plain and simple, and the first step is to stop blaming yourself for having a heart he keeps finding.

What is really happening

He does not "get to" your soft side by accident. He has learned exactly which words, apologies, or memories make you cave, and he uses them like a key. That is not love — it is a pattern, and patterns lose their power the moment you name them out loud. When you feel yourself softening, say to yourself: "This is the pattern, not the person I wish he was." That split second of naming it is where your power comes back.

What to do instead of fighting him

  • Write the cons list where you can see it daily — put it on your phone wallpaper or a note in your purse. Read it before you reply to him, not after.
  • Delay every response by one full hour. Manipulation works on urgency. When you take the urgency away, his words land differently.
  • Tell one trusted person your plan. Not to gossip — to be accountable. When you feel weak, you call them instead of him.
  • Go no-contact for a set time, like 30 days. You cannot think clearly while he still has access to you. Block him everywhere, even temporarily, so your mind can settle.
  • When he says something sweet, ask yourself one question: "If I had never met him, would this sentence change anything?" Usually it would not.

The real reason you keep going back is not that he is special — it is that your nervous system is used to the cycle of tension and relief. That is a habit, and habits break with time and distance. You do not need to hate him to leave; you just need to stop giving him the remote to your peace.

Be gentle with yourself on the days you stumble. Getting over someone is not a straight line, and one weak moment does not erase your progress. If you need to talk it through out loud, Zara from our team is here any time — she will listen without judging you. You are not weak for feeling this; you are human. And you are closer to done than you think.
