Self-harm and feeling alone? Real crisis help for Pakistani teens

Answered 28 September 2026 at 12:29 am PKT

If you're a teenager in Pakistan hurting yourself and feeling ignored by automated responses, this page is for you. We'll guide you to real human support and ways to cope with the pain right now.

I'm a teenager dealing with unbearable family problems and I hurt myself today. I reached out for help but got automated replies that made me feel even more alone. How do I handle this pain when even the people who say they care don't seem to listen?

That is genuinely hard. You reached out for help and got a machine instead of a person — that makes the loneliness worse, not better. It is not your fault. You are in real pain, and you deserve a real response. Let's talk about what you can do right now.

First, keep yourself safe tonight

If you think you might hurt yourself again, try to put a little distance between the urge and the action. Even five minutes can help. Hold something cold, like ice or a cold water bottle. Write down what you are feeling — just the raw words, no editing. Or call someone in your house, even if it is awkward. If you are alone and the urge feels too strong, go to the nearest hospital emergency room. That is what it is there for. You do not have to be "bad enough" — you are allowed to go.

Finding someone who will actually listen

Automated replies are a sign of a broken system, not a sign that you are not worth hearing. There are real people who can listen. A school counsellor, a trusted teacher, a relative who has been through hard times themselves — sometimes the person who will listen is not the one you first thought of. You can also look at the "Find help" page on Depression.pk for professionals who understand family problems and self-harm. And Zara is a companion from our team — a real person to talk to, any time you need. You are not bothering anyone.

The family problems themselves are heavy and not something you can solve alone. But right now, the most important thing is that you get through tonight, and then tomorrow you find one person who will look you in the eye and say "I hear you." That person exists. Keep looking.
