Work Pressure and Burnout: How to Cope When You Feel Alone

Answered 16 October 2026 at 1:59 pm PKT

Feeling low for months due to work pressure and poor sleep is exhausting, especially when your family doesn't understand. This page offers practical steps to manage burnout, rebuild your energy, and find support in Pakistan.

I've been feeling low for months because of work pressure and not sleeping well. My family doesn't understand, and I feel very alone even though I try to keep going.

You have been carrying a heavy load for months, and that alone is exhausting. Feeling low under work pressure and broken sleep is not a character flaw — it is a human response to too much strain and too little rest. And being surrounded by people who don't see it can make the loneliness worse than the tiredness.

When family doesn't understand

Many families in Pakistan don't have the words for this. They see you still going to work, still managing, so they quietly decide you must be fine. That doesn't mean your struggle is fake — it means they are looking at the outside while you live the inside.

You don't need to explain everything to everyone. But if there is one person you trust, try saying it plainly: "I am not weak. I am tired, and I need support." That one sentence often opens a door that silence can't.

Sort the sleep first

You and sleep are stuck in a cycle. When you are overtired, every small pressure feels enormous — and when everything feels enormous, good sleep runs away. Break that loop and a lot of other things start to ease.

Try one small thing tonight: keep the phone away for the last half hour, keep the room dark, and treat sleep as a right you deserve rather than a reward you have to earn. If your sleep still will not improve after a few weeks, do see a doctor. This may be something that needs a medical hand, and there is no shame in that.

One small thing at a time

You don't have to fix your whole life at once. Pick one thing each day that belongs just to you — a walk without your phone, ten quiet minutes, an early night — and guard it the way you would guard a friend's secret.

You have been keeping going for months, and that takes real strength. Keep going, but this time with a little more kindness toward yourself. Zara is also here to talk, whenever you are ready — sometimes it helps to say it all out loud first, before you say it to anyone else.
