When Your Fiancee Isn't Talking Much

Answered 3 May 2025 at 7:53 pm PKT

Bilal, it's completely normal to feel confused and worried when your fiancée isn't communicating as much as you'd like. This feeling can make you question her affection and the strength of your bond, which is a tough spot to be in.

Meri fiance mujhse zyada baat nahi karti aur mujhe lagta hai woh mujhse pyaar nahi karti. Main usko message karta hoon toh woh late reply karti hai. Kya woh mujhse bore ho gayi hai?

First, please know that your feelings are valid. When someone important to us seems distant, it's natural to jump to conclusions like they've lost interest or are bored. However, there are many reasons why communication might be slow, especially in the early stages of an engagement in our society.

Sometimes, a person might be naturally shy, especially with a new relationship before marriage, or they might not be used to constant texting. Your fiancée could also be very busy with family responsibilities, studies, or work, which might limit her phone time. In many Pakistani homes, young women have less freedom to use their phones privately or frequently, or they might feel pressure from elders to not be on the phone too much.

Instead of assuming the worst, try to gently open up a conversation with her. You could say something like, "Mujhe thoda fikar ho rahi hai kyunki humari baat-cheet kam ho gayi hai. Kya sab theek hai?" (I'm a little worried because our communication has decreased. Is everything okay?) This shows you care without accusing her or making her feel defensive. Listen to her response without interrupting.

Pay attention to her daily life and environment. Is she in a home where privacy is limited? Does she have a lot on her plate? Sometimes, understanding her situation can help you see why she might not be able to reply quickly or talk for long periods. It's not always about a lack of feeling; it can often be about circumstances.

Also, consider the quality of your interactions rather than just the quantity. If you do get to talk, is the conversation meaningful? Even short, heartfelt messages can carry more weight than frequent, superficial ones. Try to make those moments count, and don't pressure her for constant updates or replies, as that can sometimes make someone withdraw further.

Give her a little space and time, but also make it clear that you are there for her. Show your support and understanding. Building a strong foundation for marriage involves learning each other's communication styles and being patient, especially when navigating new dynamics within cultural expectations. Zara is here if you want to talk through how to have that conversation with her.
