A seventeen-year-old wrote to this site asking for help with violent thoughts and childhood trauma, and waited seven days in a queue. That is the gap this role exists to close. Work with under-18s is not adult therapy with smaller chairs: consent sits partly with a parent, confidentiality has limits the young person has to be told about in the first session, and safeguarding is not optional.
Qualification: A clinical or counselling psychology degree, plus training or supervised experience specifically with children and young people. You must be 18 or over.
The arrangement, the same for every role here. You are self-employed. You set your own fee, and there is no charge to be listed. The patient pays you directly and in full — nothing is deducted and nothing is held by us. For a session we introduced, 10% of that fee comes back to us afterwards, towards the video rooms, the booking system and the running costs; this is a charity project and patients are never charged for anything. You keep your own patients, and nothing is owed on work that did not come through us. Your phone number and your address are never published: enquiries reach you through us. You decide your own hours and how many people you take. We check your qualifications, and your registration where your profession has a register, before anybody is approved — nobody is listed on their own word. We do not supervise your clinical practice and we do not carry your indemnity.
