Dealing with Overwhelming Worry While Jobless

Answered 14 February 2025 at 12:43 pm PKT

Feeling overwhelmed and worried when you're looking for work and facing financial strain is incredibly common and understandable. Your concerns about your family's expenses and your children's fees are heavy burdens to carry.

Pichle 6 mahine se factory band hai aur naukri nahi mil rahi. Ghar ka kharcha, bachon ki fees, sab ki tension mere sar par hai. Raaton ko neend nahi aati, bas yahi sochta rehta hoon.

Usman bhai, it takes immense strength to keep going when faced with such challenges, and it's completely normal for these worries to affect your sleep and peace of mind. Many people in Pakistan experience similar difficulties, and you are not alone in feeling this way.

When everything feels out of control, it helps to focus on the small things you *can* manage. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by 'find a job,' try breaking it down: 'spend 30 minutes updating my CV,' or 'reach out to one old contact.' Even small steps can create a sense of progress.

The constant worry about money can make sleep impossible. Try to create a simple routine before bed: maybe a warm shower, or just 10 minutes of deep breathing exercises to calm your mind. Avoid looking at screens, like your phone, right before you try to sleep, as this can stimulate your brain.

Physical activity, even a short walk around your neighborhood or in a local park, can make a big difference to your mood and help clear your head. It doesn't cost anything and can release some of that built-up tension and stress in your body.

Talking about your worries can also lighten the load. While the concern of 'log kya kahenge' (what will people say) is very real, choose one trusted friend or family member you feel comfortable sharing with. Sometimes just saying your concerns out loud to someone who listens can bring a lot of relief.

Consider setting aside a specific 'worry time' each day, perhaps 15-20 minutes. During this time, let yourself think about all your concerns. Outside of this time, when worries creep in, gently remind yourself to address them during your designated worry slot, helping you reclaim the rest of your day.

Finally, try to find small moments of gratitude or achieve tiny tasks each day. Whether it's fixing something small around the house, helping your children with their studies, or just noticing a beautiful sky, these small wins can help boost your spirits and remind you of your capabilities.
