Exam Pressure and Suicidal Thoughts: Crisis Help in Pakistan

Answered 4 November 2026 at 7:07 pm PKT

If exam pressure, topping your class, or fear of disappointing family has brought you to thoughts of ending your life, you are not alone and this page is for you. It explains how to get through the next hours safely, why self-harm and suicidal thoughts need urgent support, and where to turn in Pakistan when religious fear and family izzat make it hard to speak.

I'm begging Allah to take my life because I can't do it myself

I have an exam tomorrow and haven't studied. I used to be the topper but now feel crushing pressure to maintain that, especially since another girl who used to score equal with me is still doing well while I've slipped. I've been having suicidal thoughts and even tried to slice my wrist, but stopped because suicide is haram in Islam and I'm scared of hell and hurting my family's reputation, so now I'm trapped desperately wishing for my life to end but unable to take it myself

Aap are in so much pain right now, and that is genuinely hard. You are not alone in this. Many people feel this way when the pressure becomes too much, and it does not mean aap are weak or failing. The fact that aap reached out shows how much aap want to keep going, even when it feels impossible.

The pressure is too much

The pressure to maintain top marks and the fear of not living up to expectations can feel crushing. It is okay to feel overwhelmed, and it does not mean aap are giving up. Aap have shown strength by pushing through before, and aap can do it again. But aap do not have to carry this alone.

The thoughts of suicide are a sign

The thoughts of suicide are a sign that the pain aap are feeling is more than aap can handle right now. It does not mean aap want to die; it means aap need help to keep living. Aap have already shown that aap do not want to end aap's life by stopping when aap did. That is a sign of strength, not weakness.

What to do now

  • Tell someone aap trust. It could be a family member, a friend, or a teacher. Aap do not have to go through this alone.
  • Talk to a professional. A counselor or psychologist can help aap navigate these feelings and find ways to cope. Depression.pk has a list of professionals who can help at /find-help.
  • Take it one step at a time. The exam might feel like the end of the world right now, but it is not. Focus on getting through today, and then tomorrow will come.

Aap matter, and aap's life is valuable. The pain aap are feeling is real, but it is not permanent. With help, aap can find a way through this. Zara is here to talk if aap need someone to listen.
