What If I Fail My Exam? Result Stress and Burnout

Answered 3 November 2026 at 3:59 pm PKT

Waiting for results or facing a failed paper can feel like the ground has shifted. This page covers the stress and burnout around exam failure, and practical next steps for students in Pakistan.

Yaar ma ager na pass hoa

Yaar, that fear — "if I don't pass" — is sitting on your chest right now, and it's probably making it harder to open the book at all. That's not laziness, that's what fear does. One exam paper starts to feel like a verdict on your whole future, and on your family's izzat, and on whether you're worth anything. It isn't. It's one paper.

Failing is a small, fixable thing in most cases — a supplementary exam, a repeat year, a change of subject. People do this all the time and go on to fine lives; you just don't hear about it because nobody announces it. What makes it feel unbearable is usually not the result itself but the not-knowing and the log kya kahenge. So do one thing: find out the actual facts before the result comes. What's the supplementary date, how many marks do you need, what happens if you fail one subject versus two. The unknown is what's tormenting you; the known, even if it's bad, is something you can plan around.

And for tonight — study in short blocks, twenty-five minutes then a break, rather than sitting for four hours staring at the same page in a panic. Sleep properly before the paper. A tired brain remembers nothing.

Tell me a bit more — which exam is this, and how long has this fear been sitting with you? And is it your own worry mostly, or is it what your family will say? You can say it here or carry on with Zara in chat, whichever feels easier.
