How to Stop Self-Harm When Others Blame You

Answered 18 September 2026 at 11:47 pm PKT

If you might hurt yourself now, move away from anything you could use and contact emergency help or someone you trust. This page explains how to manage the immediate urge, respond to blame, and find crisis support in Pakistan.

How can I stop hurting myself when everyone I love ends up blaming me for their mistakes?

You do not have to hurt yourself to make their blame stop. If there is any chance you could do it tonight, do not stay alone with the urge. Move away from anything you could use, go where another person is, and say clearly, “I might hurt myself. Please stay with me and keep these things away.” If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency service now.

Their blaming you does not make you responsible for their mistakes. For the next ten minutes, focus only on staying safe: put your feet on the floor, breathe out slowly, and hold something cold or splash cold water on your face. The argument can wait.

Tell me two things: are you in immediate danger right now, and have you already hurt yourself? Stay here and answer just those questions.
