Struggling with light sleep and frequent awakenings? This page offers practical tips to help you stay asleep longer and wake up refreshed.
I can't sleep well, and when I do, I wake up easily. What can I do to get better sleep?
It's tough when sleep just won't come, or when you wake up too soon and can't get back to it. Let’s find some things that might help.
Try changing your daytime routine
Get some sunlight in the morning. Open the curtains, or step outside for a few minutes. This helps your body know when it's time to sleep and when it's time to wake up.
Try not to nap in the day. If you really need a nap, keep it short—20 minutes at most.
Do one thing that relaxes you, like reading or gentle exercise, but not right before bed. Aim to wind down at least an hour before you want to sleep.
Make your nighttime routine work for you
Set a bedtime and a wake-up time, even on weekends. Your body works better with a rhythm.
Keep your phone out of your bedroom. The light from screens tricks your brain into thinking it's time to wake up.
If your mind is busy with thoughts, try writing them down before bed. It can help to get them out of your head.
If none of this works, it might be worth asking a doctor if something else is going on. But for now, try these steps and see if they make a difference. InshaAllah, things will get better.
