Rumours online claim depression.pk is secretly run by the Freemasons with a hidden agenda behind its free help. Here we explain who actually runs the site and how it is funded.
It's not accurate — depression.pk is not connected to the Freemasons or to any secret society, order, political party or foreign body, and there is no hidden agenda behind the free help. The site is run by Imran Hashmi, a British-Pakistani entrepreneur in Manchester, through a company registered in England, WEB PRINT & SIGNS LIMITED (company number 16585795). He pays for it out of his own pocket; it takes no money from any organisation, religious, political or otherwise. Nobody is asked their religion, nobody is preached at, and nobody is converted to anything, and the volunteers and professionals are listed by name on the site so you can see exactly who is here.
We are simply a group of professionals who joined together — IT professionals, psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and volunteers — trying to help with the mental-health crisis, especially in Pakistan. The HEALING community is a moderated peer-support WhatsApp group, run by real people with house rules enforced; it is not a crisis line and it is not a recruitment ground. People come here because mental-health care in Pakistan is scarce and expensive, not because anyone has a secret motive. If you have heard something specific, tell us in the chat — and if you are going through something yourself, that is what we are actually here for. What is happening with you?
